Eid Return Flow, Bogor Anticipates Surge of New Jobseekers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Regency is expecting new waves of jobseekers after this year's Eid homecoming season, according to Nana Mulyana, the head of the region's Manpower Office, as returning travelers bring their friends or relatives to look for employment.

Nana said this will bolster the already competitive job-seeking market in Bogor, as workers consider the regency's minimum wage.

"In fact, there are plenty of job opportunities in their home regions, as our data shows that several companies have relocated from Bogor to areas with lower minimum wage. One of the reasons why they seek employment in our region is the minimum wage, which has reached Rp5.1 million," Nana said to Tempo on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Nevertheless, Nana said the Bogor Manpower Office cannot prevent non-Bogor residents from seeking employment in the region, citing human rights and lack of regulations.

What the local government can do, according to Nana, is to enhance the skills of job seekers from Bogor Regency. "We cannot prevent non-Bogor residents from seeking employment in Bogor Regency. Our best efforts are to ensure that job seekers from Bogor Regency have the necessary skills according to the existing demands in the industry."

Moreover, Nana hopes that the local Bogor workforce has a strong mentality and is ready to work. This is because the number of job opportunities in Bogor Regency is not commensurate with the number of job seekers.

"So, for job seekers, they must realize that job opportunities are currently very limited. If you have a job, do not easily give up if you encounter obstacles. We must have a resilient mentality and a strong fighting spirit," said Nana.
