Elon Musk Opens New Restaurant in Hollywood

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Elon Musk has opened a retro-futuristic themed Tesla Diner along the popular Hollywood area. The Optimus robot will greet guests.

The drive-in service offers 80 V4 Supercharger kiosks and two giant entertainment screens. Here, the humanoid Tesla Optimus robot handed out popcorn to customers who arrived at the opening on Monday, July 21, 2025.

The restaurant started taking reservations at 4:20 PM local time on Monday. Tesla's CEO shared some posts praising the features of the Tesla Restaurant and inviting customers to try it. "Aiming to be a fun experience for all, whether Tesla owners or not. Will keep improving," Musk wrote in X.

The restaurant consists of two floors, retro-modern style, and steel walls with two towering film screens for customers to watch while "charging" their cars.

This new restaurant is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Tesla Diner, which spans approximately 864 square meters, attracts at least a thousand customers. Some people traveled for hours and arrived very early in the morning to queue up until the doors opened without prior notice.

Restaurant Menu

As reported by the New York Post, the restaurant offers a variety of classic options with local ingredients, including fried chicken and waffles, Tesla burger, and Diner Club sandwich. All cooked on electric stoves, without gas. The food is packed in 'Cybertruck' themed boxes resembling Tesla's stainless steel pickup truck. The cups and cartons of fries feature the distinctive Tesla lightning logo.

If the original restaurant concept succeeds, Musk stated in a separate post that Tesla will build this restaurant in major cities worldwide, as well as Supercharger locations on long-distance routes.

Musk has been sharing his restaurant concept on social media for years. In 2023, Tesla obtained approval to continue construction on Santa Monica Blvd.

Protested by Local Residents

On the opening day, the restaurant was protested by residents. Outside the Santa Monica Boulevard entrance, a man walked along the block carrying a banner that read "Workers should have power, not billionaires!" He promised that this would be the first of many protests at the Tesla Diner.

"I’m putting word out to Action Network and a variety of other Tesla takedown organizations, so we will be here in vast numbers from now on," said Charles Happold, who resides in the neighborhood, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. "We will do everything in our power to get him to sell this place and get out of here."

The activist stated that he regularly protests Tesla dealers on weekends and views Musk as a threat to democracy, along with President Trump.

According to Happold, Los Angeles is not a city that welcomes Musk. However, Tesla cars queued long to enter the restaurant parking area. "We do not want this restaurant here unless he sells it: It's a unique place and that would be fine, but we don't want Musk involved at all."
