Indonesia Seal 3-2 Victory Over Australia at AFF Futsal 2026

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s national futsal team secured a crucial 3-2 win over Australia in the group stage of the 2026 AFF Futsal Championship, sealing a place in the semifinals as Group B winners with a perfect record.

Indonesia came under pressure after falling behind early in the match. Although the Garuda squad started brightly, Australia managed to overturn the game and take a 2-1 lead, testing the mental resilience of the Indonesian side.

Trailing before halftime, Indonesia responded with greater intensity in the second half and adopted a more aggressive approach. Their persistence paid off through an outstanding display from Andres Dwi Persada, who scored two decisive goals to complete the comeback and put Indonesia ahead 3-2.

Indonesia’s other goal was scored by M. Sanjaya, who also played a key role in keeping the team’s hopes alive after Australia had taken control of the match.

After regaining the lead, Indonesia held firm until the final whistle. The team remained disciplined at the back despite sustained pressure from Australia in the closing minutes, as the Socceroos pushed for an equalizer.

The victory gave Indonesia a maximum nine points from three matches, confirming the team as Group B champions and underlining its consistent form throughout the group stage.

The result also highlighted Indonesia’s growing confidence and composure, particularly its ability to recover from a losing position in a high-pressure match.

Indonesia will now face the runner-up of Group A in the semifinals. While their next opponent has yet to be confirmed, the challenge is expected to be tougher as the tournament enters the knockout stage.
