TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Corruption Court sentenced on Friday, July 25, 2025, the secretary general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, to 3 years and 6 months in prison for bribery linked to the replacement of Indonesian House members.
Rios Rahmanto, the presiding judge of today's trial, said Hasto was proven guilty "beyond reasonable doubt" of having committed bribery.
The judge also sentenced Hasto to pay a fine of Rp250 million with a subsidiary of 3 months in prison, which was a lower sentence than the prosecutor's demand. The prosecutor previously demanded that Hasto be sentenced to 7 years in prison and imposed a Rp600 million fine with a subsidiary of 6 months prison sentence.
Despite the guilty verdict on bribery, Hasto Kristiyanto was acquitted on the obstruction of justice charge. "Acquitting the defendant from the first charge," the court declared.
Hasto was previously charged with obstructing the investigation of the Harun Masiku case. He was also accused of being involved in the bribery case linked to the replacement of DPR members.
Hasto Kristiyanto was found to have violated Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a of the Corruption Eradication Law and Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1, in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code.
