Pertamina Says No Policy for Fuel Price Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Hasan Nasbi, stated that the Indonesian government has not implemented a policy to raise domestic fuel prices, despite the surge in global oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.

"Yes, there is an increase in prices in the global market, but so far the government has not made a policy to raise prices domestically," Hasan said after meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2014-2024 period, Joko Widodo, at the Sumber residence, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Hasan confirmed that Pertamina, as an operator, will adhere to the government's directives regarding price stability and the national energy supply. In addition to prices, he addressed the safety of the fuel supply.

"The government has already anticipated [the situation]. Since the outbreak of the conflict, its impacts have been estimated," Hasan said.

According to Hasan, since the beginning of the conflict, the government has been taking anticipatory measures by predicting potential impacts on the energy supply. To ensure supply resilience, he said that Pertamina has diversified its sources for crude oil imports to avoid depending on specific routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz.

"In terms of supply, we are looking for other sources. There are sources from Africa, America, and other regions," he mentioned.

Furthermore, Hasan explained that the national fuel reserve currently stands at approximately 20 days and is regularly updated, ensuring energy availability remains stable. "If today the stock is 20 days, tomorrow it will still be 20 days because it is continually updated," he said.

He also urged the public not to panic over the current global situation. The government is preparing various measures, including potential consumption adjustments, to increase efficiency. "There's no need to panic. Until today, the situation is still under control."

Meanwhile, Hasan mentioned that his meeting with Jokowi in Solo today took place in a festive atmosphere during the Eid moment. He stated that they did not discuss anything specific during the meeting. "During the Eid moment, I happened to be in Solo and just got the chance to meet. There was no specific conversation," he said.

Hasan also noted the people's high level of enthusiasm when they came to meet Jokowi. "Many queued for the Eid visit. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet him," he said.
