Prabowo Extends Eid Greetings to Leaders of Muslim Countries

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his Eid al-Fitr greetings to several Muslim leaders in the celebration of 1447 Hijriah. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Prabowo had contacted four heads of state in the past few days.

They were President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, King of Jordan, Abdullah II, and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

"President Prabowo conducted a virtual meet-up through a phone call," said Teddy in a written statement on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Teddy stated that Prabowo will continue to communicate with several other heads of state. "Several other heads of state will also be contacted in the near future, awaiting confirmation from each country," he said. According to Teddy, this gathering is not just a tradition during Eid al-Fitr, but also aims to strengthen friendship with other countries.

During the holiday, Prabowo went on a tour in several regions of Indonesia. On Friday, March 20, 2026, Prabowo celebrated the eve of Eid al-Fitr in Medan, North Sumatra.

Then, on Saturday morning, March 21, 2026, the President performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh. In the afternoon, Prabowo held an open house at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta.

On that day, the Palace was open to the public for a halal-bihalal (Post-Ramadan social gathering) event. Prabowo received several heads of institutions and ministers from the Red and White Cabinet in the open house event. Two former presidents, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko Widodo, were seen visiting Prabowo at the Palace for a meet-up.
