TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe 2026 public holiday Singapore calendar has been officially released by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), featuring a gazetted list of 11 public holidays. Spread across eight out of the 12 months, six of these holidays will result in long weekends.

Starting with New Year’s Day (January 1) which falls on a Thursday, the early month of the year will also welcome Chinese New Year (February 17 and 18) on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Soon after, Hari Raya Puasa is expected to fall on Saturday, March 21, though this is subject to confirmation. April will bring the first long weekend of the year, thanks to Good Friday on April 3.

May will feature the most public holidays in 2026, with three in total. Labour Day (May 1) will fall on a Friday, while Vesak Day (May 31) will land on a Sunday, giving Singaporeans two long weekends. In between, there will be Hari Raya Haji on Wednesday, May 27 which is also subject to confirmation.

The final three public holidays will all create long weekends. National Day (August 9) falls on a Sunday, Deepavali (November 8) on a Sunday, and finally, Christmas Day (December 25) on a Friday.

This marks an increase in public holidays compared to 2024 and 2025, which had five and four long weekends, respectively.

On its official page, MOM also stated that under the Employment Act, employees who work on any of the 11 public holidays are entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay, in addition to their gross rate of pay for that day.

Employers and employees may also mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for another working day.

In addition to that, employers have the option of granting time-off-in-lieu, based on a mutually agreed number of hours, for workmen earning more than $4,500 a month, non-workmen earning more than $2,600 a month, as well as managers and executives.
