TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Just months after the new year, Tourism Australia has released its most-awaited roundup of the top ten beaches in Australia for 2026. Featuring crowd favorites such as Bate Bay Beaches and Pinky Beach, the list also unveiled some hidden gems from the regional shoreline that are highly recommended for watersports enjoyers.
To fairly judge the top contender of the country’s best beaches, Tourism Australia worked together with veteran expert and its Beach Ambassador, Brad Farmer, assessing more than a thousand beaches nationwide.
Across its 12,500 stretches of shoreline, Australia’s top beaches are rated with a 130-point scale comparing five key categories, including natural integrity and aesthetics, safety and hazards, community, facilities and access, and weather and seasons, as per Time Out.
This year, Bate Bay Beaches is officially crowned as the top beach in Australia, prevailing against the rest of the pack for its breathtaking view and accessibility.
“This picturesque stretch of coastline feels like a hidden gem right under your nose but is easily accessible by train from the city center," Farmer said in a statement cited by ABC News.
The runner-up after the Bate Bay cluster is Pinky Beach on Rottnest Island in WA. This postcard-worthy shoreline easily becomes recognizable among the top beaches in Australia for its calm, clean water and dreamy scenery.
The other contenders of the list are packed with secluded gems across the country, which Farm stated to “offer a ‘slow-travel’ experience." Among others, he continued, “they are places where you can still hear the wind and the waves rather than the crowds, providing a deep, authentic connection to the land and sea, with many First Nations stories.”
