U.S. Offers US$10mn for Tips on Hezbollah Financial Networks in Latin America

6 hours ago 1

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States is offering a reward of US$10 million, or approximately Rp164.4 billion, for information on Hezbollah's financial backers operating in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.

"The U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program, which is administered by the Diplomatic Security Service, has a standing reward offer of up to $10 million for information leading to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of the terrorist organization Hezbollah," reads the U.S. State Department's statement quoted from Antara on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The U.S. is seeking information on Hezbollah's financial network in the Tri-Border Area of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. The U.S. Department of State insists that this network generates revenue for Hezbollah through illicit activities.

A variety of activities attributed to Hezbollah include money laundering, drug trafficking, smuggling of charcoal and oil, illegal diamond trade, document forgery, and counterfeiting U.S. dollars.

"They also generate revenue from commercial activities across Latin America, including construction, import and export of goods, and real estate sales," the statement said.

The U.S. designated Hezbollah as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in October 1997 and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in October 2001.
