
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Affairs Administration is investigating allegations of environmental criminal violations by PT Sentul City, Tbk., and PT Summarecon Agung, Tbk., in Bogor Regency, following the major flooding in Jakarta and Bekasi in early March.
Rizal Irawan, Deputy of Environmental Law Enforcement of the Environmental Affairs Administration, said that the alleged violations by the two companies occurred in the Chardonnay Citra City Sentul cluster and The Alderwood Residence Summarecon Bogor cluster. Rizal explained that both developers are believed to have contributed to the severe flooding in Bekasi in early March.

Rizal said that the Civil Servant Investigator of the Criminal Environmental Law Enforcement Directorate is investigating using three legal instruments: administrative, civil, and criminal. He added that the investigation references Articles 98, 116, and 119 of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.
Currently, Rizal stated that the process is in the deepening stage, which includes requesting expert testimony. "The Deputy of Environmental Law Enforcement is being very careful in every step of law enforcement to ensure that the actions taken are based on strong evidence and legal grounds," he said.
