Fact Check: Fake Video of U.S. Aircraft Carrier Attacked by Bees

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Videos posted on Instagram [archive], TikTok, and YouTube claim that a U.S. aircraft carrier was suddenly attacked by bees on March 9, 2026. The content includes a 12-second video.

The footage shows fighter jet pilots on the ship’s deck panicking due to the insect attack. They are seen running and falling as they scramble to evade the swarm of bees. This narrative is circulating amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States and Israel.

So, is it true that a U.S. aircraft carrier was attacked by bees during the war with Iran?

FACT CHECK

Tempo verified the content through keyword searches and AI detection tools. As a result, the video was identified as AI-generated.

A search using the keyword “US warship attacked by bees” on Google found an identical video uploaded earlier. The Facebook account The Military Power Hub posted the English-language video on March 5, 2026.

Despite the narration depicting the bees' attack on the aircraft carrier, Tempo discovered a watermark reading “Gem” floating at the top of the video. This label indicates that the content was generated with Google's Gemini AI model. Google indeed requires labeling for every product generated by its generative AI models.

In the version circulating in Indonesia, the “Gem” watermark was overlaid with text reading: “U.S. aircraft carrier suddenly attacked by wasps.”

Tempo then tested the video using the Hive Moderation tool. The results showed a 96.5 percent probability that the content was AI-generated.

Meanwhile, an analysis by the Zhuque AI Detector Assistant indicates that the content was 76.27 percent likely to be AI-generated. 

CONCLUSION

Tempo's verification concludes that the claim that a U.S. aircraft carrier was attacked by bees is false.
