TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, provided updates on the plans for developing the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca. He stated that the project is currently entering the design preparation phase.
He conveyed this information during a speech at the Hajj Organization Workshop in Jakarta. He mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto is monitoring the progress of preparations for the Hajj Village. Intensive communication is also being conducted with partners in Saudi Arabia.
"Insha Allah, this week we will meet with a number of individuals designated by the president to design the Hajj Village in Mecca," the Minister of Religious Affairs stated in an official statement on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Regarding the 2026 Hajj, Nasaruddin emphasized that Indonesia sends the largest number of pilgrims of any country. This ensures a highly complex service level.
"Serving Indonesian pilgrims is very difficult. Just imagine: Reaching more than 200 thousand pilgrims scattered across 17,380 islands with thousands of villages and districts is not an easy task," he said.
This workshop is important for strengthening the synergy between the Indonesian Hajj authorities and Saudi Arabia and ensuring the 2026 Hajj is prepared smoothly.
