TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has reported a fatal landslide in Kampung Mekarsari, Tribakti Mulya Village, located within the Pangalengan District of Bandung Regency. "The landslide occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 14:30 WIB," the BPBD West Java confirmed in a statement released Monday, February 2, 2026.
According to BPBD West Java, the disaster left two houses moderately damaged and affected two families, totaling approximately five individuals. Tragically, the Pangalengan landslide claimed the lives of two toddlers, aged 3 months and 5 years.
BPBD West Java attributed the slope failure to a combination of light rainfall and unstable soil conditions.
