TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Total palm oil exports in 2025 reached 32.343 million tons, a 9.51 percent increase over the 29.535 million tons recorded in 2024. Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Secretary General Hadi Sugeng Wahyudi stated that processed palm oil products drove the largest share of this growth.

Volume in the processed sector rose to 22.727 million tons from 20.451 million tons the previous year. "Exports of processed palm kernel oil increased to 1.560 million tons from 1.262 million tons," Hadi said during a press conference on the 2025 Palm Oil Industry Performance and 2026 Prospects at the Shangri-La Jakarta on Thursday evening, March 12, 2026.

GAPKI data showed that oleochemical exports also climbed to 5.076 million tons from 4.796 million tons, while crude palm oil (CPO) exports saw a slight uptick to 2.964 million tons from 2.916 million tons.

Regarding destination markets, export growth in 2025 was led by Africa with an increase of 991,000 tons, followed by China at 644,000 tons, Malaysia at 516,000 tons, Bangladesh at 503,000 tons, and Pakistan at 214,000 tons.

Conversely, export declines were recorded in the Indian market by 859,000 tons, the European Union by 97,000 tons, and the United States by 15,000 tons.

In terms of value, palm oil exports in 2025 reached US$35.87 billion, approximately Rp590 trillion. This represents a 29.23 percent surge compared to 2024 exports, which were valued at US$27.76 billion, or roughly Rp440 trillion.

Hadi noted that the rise in export value was driven by both higher volumes and an increase in average prices. The average CIF Rotterdam price in 2025 was US$1,221 per ton, up from the 2024 average of US$1,084 per ton.

Following these shifts in production, consumption, and exports, the final stock of CPO and palm kernel oil (PKO) in 2025 stood at 2.068 million tons. This figure marks a 19.79 percent decrease from the 2.577 million tons held at the end of 2024.
