TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Qatar Airways has been named the world's best airline for 2026 by Airline Ratings, a website that provides airline safety and product ratings. The award, announced on March 18, 2026, is based on expert editor reviews, overall product offerings, consistency for passengers, innovation, and value.
According to AirlineRatings.com, this Doha-based airline stands out in the global aviation industry for combining innovation with consistent and high standards of in-flight service. They have introduced Starlink Wi-Fi from gate to gate to the renowned economy cabin. The airline also continues to invest in enhancing the passenger experience.
In addition to Starlink Wi-Fi, the airline offers the Oryx One in-flight entertainment system with up to 8,500 entertainment options. Films, TV shows, and audio programs are updated monthly to include the latest releases, ensuring passengers remain entertained across its extensive global network.
AirlineRatings.com CEO Sharon Petersen stated that Qatar Airways consistently delivers a premium product in all cabin classes, ensuring economy class passengers are not left behind. Garuda Indonesia Ranked 24th
Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's national carrier, ranks second on this prestigious list, followed by Singapore Airlines in third place. Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia is ranked 24th on the list.
AirlineRatings.com classifies its rankings into three categories: full-service airlines, low-cost airlines, and hybrid airlines. Lufthansa leads in the hybrid airlines category, followed by WestJet and Virgin Australia. As for the low-cost airlines category, the top positions are held by HK Express, Jetstar, and AirAsia Group.
