
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A navy patrol plane crashed near a military base in the city of Pohang, South Korea, according to a local government official on Thursday, May 29, 2025, as reported by Arab News.
The accident occurred at around 13:50 local time, said an official in the Pohang city government.
The South Korean Navy has confirmed that the crashed plane was a P-3 aircraft.
Four individuals were on board the patrol plane that crashed in the mountains on the east coast, the Yonhap News Agency reported, citing authorities.
Two people were found dead after the incident in the southern city of Pohang on May 29, as reported by local media News1.
Emergency personnel are currently battling to extinguish the fire at the crash site, which is believed to have been caused by the plane hitting the ground.
Smoke was seen from the location where the plane appeared to have crashed, said Yonhap, citing a civilian witness.
The South Korean Navy is currently attempting to confirm the cause of the accident and the number of casualties, it said.
