Trump Responds to Iran-Israel Ceasefire Deal

8 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Why have Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire? Will the ceasefire last long? Will it lead to the end of the war? These questions were addressed by United States President Donald Trump in a press conference after the NATO summit in The Hague on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

According to Trump, the conflict between Iran and Israel has ended and is unlikely to start again. He said both countries are exhausted.

Trump stated that the conflict has ended and that the U.S. is confident that both countries will not retaliate against each other. However, a few minutes later, Trump added that there is a possibility that the conflict will continue "someday," perhaps "soon."

"Because I dealt with both, and they're both tired, exhausted. They fought very, very hard and very viciously, very violently, and they were both satisfied to go home and get out," he said.

Trump added that when Iran violated the ceasefire, Israel responded by deploying 52 fighter jets. He told Israel to pull them back, and Israel complied without taking any action.

Earlier, Israel launched a large-scale operation against Iran in the early hours of June 13, accusing the Mullahs' regime of conducting a secret military nuclear program. Tehran retaliated by launching Operation True Promise 3 that night, targeting military sites inside the Zionist state.

On June 22, the United States attacked three nuclear sites in Iran, in Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan. Trump stated after the U.S. attack that Tehran must now agree to end this war, or face much more serious consequences.

Subsequently, on Monday, June 23, Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base owned by the United States in Qatar in response to the U.S. attack. On the same day, Trump stated that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire.

Although initially marked by confusion and missile exchanges, the ceasefire has been maintained since Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2025.
