TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Saudi Arabian Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Officer (PPIH) recorded that 175 Indonesian hajj pilgrims died entering the 39th day of the hajj.
"Based on data from the Integrated Hajj Computerized System (Siskohat) Health, as of today, 175 Indonesian hajj pilgrims have died," explained Head of Health at PPIH Saudi Arabia Imran in Mecca, Sunday, June 8, 2025 as reported by the Ministry of Religion website.
Of that number, 170 were regular hajj pilgrims and five were special hajj pilgrims.
Imran explained that there were three common diseases suffered by Indonesian hajj pilgrims who died. The three diseases are heart disease, acute respiratory disease, dehydration, and organ failure due to severe infection.
"Our data shows that 77 pilgrims who died suffered from heart disease. As many as 15 pilgrims died due to organ failure due to severe infection," said Imran.
In addition, there were 11 pilgrims who died due to acute respiratory problems and dehydration.
Imran added that on the same operational day as last year, the number of pilgrims who died in 2025 was less. Last year, on the same operational day, 190 pilgrims died.
"We continue to strive and hope to Allah that Indonesian pilgrims will continue to be healthy and can return to their homeland," he hoped.
