Top 10 Busiest Train Stations During 2025 Eid al-Adha Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (PT KAI) released a list of the busiest train stations by passenger departures during the 2025 Eid al-Adha holiday. On Thursday, June 5, KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba reported that occupancy reached 130 percent, serving 218,473 passengers out of a total capacity of 168,043 seats.

"This figure reflects the public's high enthusiasm. Due to the passenger boarding and disembarking system at various stations along the route, a single seat can be used by more than one customer per day," Purba said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, June 6, as quoted by Antara.

Anne said that the 10 stations with the highest number of departures as of June 6, 2025 are:

1. Pasarsenen Station – 105,996 passengers
2. Gambir Station – 49,491 passengers
3. Surabaya Pasarturi Station – 43,502 passengers
4. Ketapang Station – 37,878 passengers
5. Solo Balapan Station – 34,933 passengers
6. Surabaya Gubeng Station – 33,088 passengers
7. Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng Station – 31,351 passengers
8. Malang Station – 29,272 passengers
9. Bandung Station – 25,075 passengers
10. Purwokerto Station – 23,037 passengers

As of 7:00 a.m. on June 6, 2025, KAI had sold a total of 681,363 train tickets for travel from June 5 to June 9, 2025. This is approximately 80 percent of the 850,937 total available seats.

Long-distance trains (KAL) served 597,614 passengers from a total seat capacity of 710,416, for an occupancy rate of 84 percent. Meanwhile, local trains served 83,749 passengers from 140,521 available seats, for an occupancy rate of 60 percent.

KAI is offering a 30 percent discount on non-subsidized economy class train tickets (non-PSO), valid for bookings and travel through Thursday, July 31, 2025. The discount applies to more than 100 train routes and is available through all official sales channels.

"KAI is committed to providing safe, punctual, and reliable transportation services. We encourage all customers to prioritize safety and comfort during their journey," said Anne.
