TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's toll road operator, Jasa Marga, recorded a total of 178,847 vehicles leaving the Greater Jakarta region (Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi) on February 13-14, 2026, or four days before the Chinese New Year holiday.
"We are seeing a surge in traffic volume on the fourth day before the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday, with a total number of vehicles leaving Greater Jakarta up by 11 percent compared to normal traffic (161,064 vehicles)," the President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan Achmad Purwantono, said in a written statement on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
The traffic volume was recorded from four major toll gates. These are the Cikupa Toll Gate (heading towards Merak), Ciawi Toll Gate (heading towards Puncak), Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (heading towards Trans Java), and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate (heading towards Bandung).
Traffic leaving Greater Jakarta is heading in three directions, with the majority of 82,938 vehicles (46.4 percent) heading east (Trans Java and Bandung), 54,899 vehicles (30.7 percent) heading west (Merak), and 41,010 vehicles (22.9 percent) heading south (Puncak).
Prior to this, Jasa Marga estimated that the number of vehicles passing through toll roads in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi under their management would reach 1.6 million vehicles. This figure is a projection for February 13-17, 2026, during the Chinese New Year holiday.
Rivan Achmad stated that all toll roads operated by the Jasa Marga Group are ensured to be in operational condition and meet the minimum service standards (SPM), with safety as the top priority. The company also anticipates medium to high rainfall forecasts by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) by conducting top-of-the-line toll road maintenance services.
Rivan called for all road users to drive carefully by maintaining a safe distance, especially during rainy conditions, which could reduce visibility and disrupt travel. "Ensure both the drivers and vehicles are in prime condition," he said.
