TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Football enthusiasts will be delighted with the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, featuring 32 teams over a month-long tournament. The 21st edition of the tournament will feature a new format and take place in the United States from Saturday, June 14, to Sunday, July 13, local time.

The 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four teams each. They will compete in 12 stadiums across 11 cities in the United States. A total of 26 World Cup-winning players from their national teams will represent their clubs in this tournament.

Manchester City will arrive as the defending champions. Pep Guardiola's English Premier League team won the last championship under the old format in 2023 and will compete in Group G alongside Italy's Juventus, Morocco's Wydad AC, and Al Ain FC from the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Spanish club Real Madrid, the most frequent champion with five titles, is placed in Group G alongside Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia, Pachuca from Mexico, and RB Salzburg from Austria.

Real Madrid will compete under their new coach, Xabi Alonso. The former club star has succeeded Carlo Ancelotti, who left Santiago Bernabeu to coach the Brazilian national team. Meanwhile, Alonso was appointed to manage Los Blancos after his impressive record with Bayer Leverkusen.

Under Ancelotti, Los Blancos clinched their fifth title in this competition in 2022. They became champions after a 5-3 victory over Al-Hilal in the final.

For the opening match, Al Ahly from Egypt will face Inter Miami CF from the United States on Saturday night, local time, June 14, 2025. The match will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. Lionel Messi is expected to play for Miami.
