The Indonesian Manpower Ministry is building a partnership with the Swiss government to strengthen access to young labor, workers in the green sector, and workers from vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities. Bilateral cooperation occurred alongside the 113th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) at the United Nations Office in Geneva.
"We want to ensure that this cooperation has a direct impact, especially for people with disabilities who often face barriers in the workforce. Our goal is to promote inclusive access to economic independence," said Minister of Manpower Yassierli in an official statement quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 11, 2025.
2. Walhi Urges Govt to Revoke PT Gag Nikel Mining Permit in Raja Ampat
ndonesian Forum for the Environment or Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (Walhi) urges the government to revoke the mining permit of PT Gag Nikel in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua. The Head of Walhi's Campaign Division, Fanny Tri Jambore, believes that allowing PT Gag to operate will endanger the marine ecosystem in the region.
Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated the revocation of four out of five IUPs in Raja Ampat. These four IUPs were owned by PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining, PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa, PT Anugerah Surya Pratama, and PT Nurham.
3. No Indonesians Among Air India 171 Crash Victims, Says Foreign Affairs Ministry
Judha Nugraha, Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were among the victims of the Air India 171 plane crash. The aircraft crashed during takeoff from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, en route to London, England, resulting in the deaths of 231 passengers and 10 crew members on board.
According to a report from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Mumbai, Judha stated that no Indonesian citizens were listed as passengers on the ill-fated flight. "Based on the manifest obtained by KJRI Mumbai, there were no Indonesian citizens on board," Judha said in a written statement issued on Thursday night, June 12, 2025.
