BNPT Discloses Bomb Threat Message Sent to Saudia Airlines Carrying Hajj Pilgrims

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Legal Affairs, Public Relations, and Information Technology Division at the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), Tjandra Sulistiyono, explained the findings of BNPT's investigation into the English-language bomb threat allegedly sent by an individual with the initials APM.

"After handling the matter according to standard operating procedures, the threat was declared a hoax," Tjandra said when contacted via WhatsApp on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The threat was received by email on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at approximately 07:30 AM WIB. The message was sent by an unidentified individual and was specifically directed at the SV-5276 aircraft, which was carrying Indonesian hajj pilgrims.

Earlier, a Saudia Airlines flight with the number SV-5726, transporting 442 hajj pilgrims from Batch 12 of the Jakarta-Bekasi Embarkation (JKS), received a bomb threat while en route from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

In response to the threat, the aircraft was diverted to Kualanamu Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, for an emergency landing and security inspection in accordance with aviation safety protocols. The situation was promptly addressed by various relevant agencies, including the police, who questioned several witnesses.

The following is the content of the message allegedly sent by APM:

"Greetings,

This Holy Day, Saudia 5276 and Tangerang Airport will face a severe pipe bomb blast to commemorate the unfair hanging of Ajmal Kasab Bhai and Savukku Shankar illegal detention by Pallan A Arun IPS. The RFIDs of existing passengers and Airport moles are enough to activate the Human Button IEDs. Wallahi. we wanted only property damage today, as this is a statement!

WHEN THE FLIGHT LANDS, Tangerang PORT WILL BLATS!
