Desire Doue Shines as Best Young Player in PSG's Champions League Victory

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The name Desire Doue has captured widespread attention following a stellar performance in the UEFA Champions League 2024/2025 final between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Inter Milan at Allianz Arena in Munich on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Doue was named the best young player of the tournament after scoring two goals and providing one assist, helping PSG claim a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan and secure their first-ever Champions League title.

Who Is Desire Doue?

According to Antara on June 1, 2025, Desire Doue was born in Angers, France, on June 3, 2005. Known for his versatility, he plays as both an attacking midfielder and a winger. He began his professional career at Stade Rennais, the club where he developed his skills from a young age.

Doue made his Ligue 1 debut for Rennes on August 7, 2022, and scored his first league goal just three weeks later. At 17 years, 4 months, and 4 days old, he became the youngest French player to score in a European club competition.

Impressed by his performances, PSG signed Doue in the summer of 2024 for a reported €50 million. He reportedly turned down offers from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich to join the Parisian club.

Internationally, Doue has represented France at multiple youth levels, from U-17 to U-21, and played in the Paris 2024 Olympics. He scored twice in a friendly against Ivory Coast during his Olympic debut, helping France to a 3-2 win.

He also featured in the French squad that reached the final of the 2024 Olympics, though he only came on as a substitute in the final, where France lost 3-5 to Spain. Doue then made his senior debut for the French national team in 2025.

In his first season with PSG, he tallied 15 goals and 16 assists across all competitions. He is celebrated for his speed, dribbling skills, and tactical intelligence. His ability to read the game and exploit space makes him a formidable attacking threat.

Despite his age, Doue has shown great composure on the big stage. His standout display in the Champions League final confirmed his status as one of football’s brightest young stars.

At 19 years and 362 days old, he became the youngest player to both score and assist in a Champions League final, joining a select group of teenage scorers in the competition’s history, including Patrick Kluivert (18) and Carlos Alberto (19).
