TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Foreign Ministry and six of its diplomatic missions in the United States have responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration policies, including the protests that erupted in cities such as Los Angeles. According to an official ministry report, federal immigration authorities launched a coordinated raid across several areas of Los Angeles, including the Garment District, Westlake, and South LA, which started on Friday, June 6.

The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles confirmed that two Indonesian nationals were detained in the operation. The individuals were identified as ESS, a 53-year-old woman, and CT, a 48-year-old man.

"ESS was arrested due to her undocumented status, while CT was detained for prior narcotics violations and illegal entry," the report stated.

The consulate is now coordinating with local authorities to ensure consular access for both detainees.

In response to the demonstrations in Los Angeles and other locations, Indonesia's representatives in the U.S. pledged to maintain close communication with Indonesian community groups.

Additionally, Indonesian nationals have been advised to stay updated on local developments through official sources and comply with all local regulations. The ministry also reminded Indonesians planning to travel to the U.S. to ensure their visas are valid and appropriate for their purpose of visit, and to be prepared for stricter immigration checks upon arrival.

"For Indonesians affected by U.S. immigration policy, it is important to understand your legal rights in the U.S., including the right to legal counsel and the right to contact the nearest Indonesian representative office," the statement read.

Emergency contact numbers for Indonesians in the U.S. are as follows:
