TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Legendary British rock star Ozzy Osbourne passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, as reported by People. This sad news was directly conveyed by his family. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family stated. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Ozzy Osbourne Holds Farewell Concert with Black Sabbath

Almost three weeks before his death, Ozzy held a farewell concert with his band, Black Sabbath, on July 5, 2025, at the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England. The reunion concert with his bandmates marked Ozzy Osbourne's intention to retire from the world music stage. During the concert, he conducted a farewell fundraiser for Black Sabbath.

As reported by Guitarworld, Ozzy returned to the stage after a long hiatus due to health reasons. His complete performance had long been awaited by Black Sabbath fans to share the stage with Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, and Geezer Butler. Despite his aging physique and Parkinson's disease since 2003, the Prince of Darkness truly prepared for his performance.

The reality show star performed four songs during the final concert while sitting in his black chair. The show was attended by heavy metal and hard rock musicians who gathered in the city where Ozzy and his Black Sabbath bandmates first forged the sound of heavy metal in the 1970s.

As cited in The Sun, the farewell concert was dubbed as the "the greatest heavy metal show ever." Ozzy grinned in front of cheering fans. He laughed heartily when his daughter, Kelly Osbourne, was proposed to by her boyfriend, Sid Wilson, during the concert. The heavy metal icon stated that the concert was his final performance. The legend cemented his name in rock history early in his career with controversial acts such as biting off a bat's head.

Parkinson's Disease Taking Its Toll

Although having suffered from Parkinson's for a long time, the father of six only revealed his illness in 2020. Parkinson's is a nervous system disorder that affects his body movements. When revealing his illness, Ozzy stated, "It's not a death sentence."

In an interview with The Sun in February, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, mentioned that her husband was happy to announce his last concert. "Parkinson's is a progressive disease. It cannot be stabilized. It affects various parts of the body, including his legs. But his voice is as good as ever," she said.

Before coming to terms with Parkinson's, Ozzy also struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. He had long been open about his battle with alcohol and drugs, which had been part of his life since the 1970s. Ozzy mentioned that he had left his long-standing alcohol habits. However, the British musician admitted that he was not completely free from the influence of addictive substances.

In the podcast The Madhouse Chronicles released on iHeartRadio in September 2024, Ozzy revealed that he still occasionally used marijuana. "I sometimes use a little weed," he said. Ozzy also talked about his experience trying ketamine-a drug initially prescribed by a doctor to relieve pain. "The doctor gave me a small amount, but it was enough to reawaken something in my brain," he said.

As reported by People, Ozzy explained his condition on his SiriusXM radio show. "I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive. I may be moaning that I can’t walk, but I look down the road, and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it."
