Prabowo Opens to More Direct Flights with Russia, After Moscow-Bali Route

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomes the opportunity for the Russian government to establish more direct flights between the two countries. Currently, the Moscow-Bali flights are scheduled for three to four times a week.

This was conveyed by the head of state after a bilateral meeting with Putin at the Konstantinovsky Palace, St. Petersburg, on Thursday, June 19, 2025. "Indonesia remains open to expanding direct air connections, not only to Bali, but also to other Indonesian cities and destinations," said Prabowo, as quoted from the President's Secretariat's YouTube channel.

In the education sector, prabowo said Indonesia is committed to sending more students to Russia. He also expressed appreciation for Russia's support for Indonesia's full membership in BRICS and the agreement for free trade cooperation.

Prabowo and Putin witnessed the exchange of 4 MoUs, one of which concerned Danantara

President Vladimir Putin received President Prabowo Subianto at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, during Prabowo's two-day state visit to Russia.

Putin said Prabowo had the opportunity to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 on Friday. The forum will be participated in by business players and politicians alike. 

Putin said it was his "great pleasure" to meet Prabowo in St. Petersburg, as their last meeting last year in Moscow was before Prabowo's tenure as president. "Indonesia is a full member of BRICS, and I hope Indonesia will make a significant contribution to the activities of this organization," said Putin on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
