Whoosh Hits Record 25,794 Daily Passengers Amid School Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) reported its highest daily passenger count for the commercial operation of the Whoosh high-speed train, with a total of 25,794 passengers on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Eva Chairunisa, General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC, said the spike in passengers was driven by the long weekend that coincided with the school holiday season.

“The public's enthusiasm for using Whoosh as their preferred transportation choice is evident from the surge in ticket sales,” Eva stated in a press release received by Tempo on Friday evening.

The upward trend continued into the next day. By 08:00 AM on Friday, June 27, over 16,000 tickets had been sold for that day’s departures. KCIC estimated that the passenger total would surpass 24,000.

“Tickets for departures from Halim Station between 06:25 AM and 01:00 PM are sold out. For later trips, ticket occupancy ranges from 50 to 70 percent,” Eva added.

To thank the public for their support, KCIC organized several special programs during the holiday period. On June 27, a total of 1,500 souvenirs were distributed to every 10th departing passenger from Halim Station and Tegalluar Summarecon.

KCIC also prepared 1,000 pieces of special merchandise for children who congratulated the Whoosh team on reaching 10 million passengers. These greetings could be delivered to the Whoosh mascot, Heiser, or through the station counters from June 26 to 28. Additionally, 500 vouchers and exclusive merchandise items were reserved for selected lucky passengers during the same period.

Eva expressed appreciation for the strong public confidence in Whoosh’s services.

“This achievement is solid proof of the growing interest in Whoosh as a modern, fast, and comfortable transportation option,” she said. She also noted that this holiday season holds special meaning for many families.

Before this, the Whoosh train had already reached a significant milestone. Since commercial operations began on October 17, 2023, until June 25, 2025, the total number of Whoosh passengers has reached 10 million. The exact figures are 10,014,707 passengers and 29,786 trips completed.
