TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Relations Manager for PT KAI Operational Area (Daop) 3 Cirebon, Muhibbuddin, reported that a total of 27 train journeys passing through the region have been canceled. These service disruptions have been continuous since the night of the incident through today.
"Last night, 10 trains were canceled. Meanwhile, 17 more were called off today. In total, 27 journeys have been scrapped within the Daop 3 Cirebon area," Muhibbuddin stated on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
In addition to the cancellations, several operational services are facing significant setbacks following the train collision. "The trains still in service are experiencing substantial delays. This is a direct consequence of the incident in East Bekasi," Muhibbuddin noted.
He further explained that the railway line was briefly rendered impassable immediately following the crash. While the downstream line was reopened around 1:00 a.m., the reliance on a single track has led to persistent travel bottlenecks.
"By 1 a.m., the downstream line became passable on one track. However, the backlog remains quite long, resulting in ongoing delays," he said.
Heavy Equipment Dispatched
PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon has deployed resources to support the evacuation of the trains involved in the wreck. "Daop 3 Cirebon has dispatched assistance consisting of one crane unit and nine crew members, including the engineer and assistant engineer," Muhibbuddin said. The deployment of heavy equipment and specialized personnel aims to accelerate the evacuation and infrastructure repair efforts.
Regarding ticket cancellations, Muhibbuddin confirmed that 105 passengers had already requested refunds by early morning. "We are providing full refunds," he clarified.
Furthermore, 36 passengers saw their journeys rerouted; those aboard the Mount Jati train bound for Gambir were transferred to the Dharmawangsa and Blambangan Ekspres services heading to Pasar Senen. "We are still tallying the total number of affected passengers and will provide further updates in due course," Muhibbuddin concluded.
The disruption follows a collision between a long-distance train and a commuter line at East Bekasi Station on Monday night, April 27, 2026. The accident, which occurred at approximately 8:50 p.m. local time, reportedly claimed 14 lives and left dozens injured. The collision has triggered a massive ripple effect across train operations, heavily impacting the Daop 3 Cirebon network.
