TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The movie Ahlan Singapore was released in theaters on February 5, 2026. This romantic film is a debut collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board and MD Pictures. Aside from its compelling storyline, the film showcases the allure of Singapore.

Ahlan Singapore follows the journey of Indonesian college student Aisyah, portrayed by Rebecca Klopper, as she searches for her identity in Singapore. Her encounter with her senior, Liam, played by Kiesha Alvaro, slowly unravels the tightly held space within her. The presence of Ridwan (Ibrahim Risyad) places Aisyah at a crossroads between her past and new possibilities.

In addition to the main cast, the film stars Dwynna Win, Alya Rohali, Emilat Morshedi, Ferry Salim, Putri Ayudya, Toby Amstrong, Kimberly Angela, Adi Irwandy, and Jasmine Laura Arendsen.

This work by Indra Gunawan will also be screened in Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam before being distributed on popular streaming services.

Muslim-Friendly Destination

Not only does Ahlan Singapore capture Singapore's aesthetics, but it also delivers a message that Singapore is a Muslim-friendly destination. Astrid Suryatenggara, Chief Communication Officer of MD Entertainment, mentioned that this aspect was deliberately emphasized.

"One of the things we emphasize is the existence of halal places in Singapore. Because many people are unaware that there are actually many halal places in Singapore," said Astrid during the film's launch in Jakarta on Monday, February 2, 2026.

This is evident in the scene where Aisyah performs prayers at the Sultan Mosque in the Kampong Glam area. The ease of access to religious practices and the availability of halal cuisine, such as Putu Piring in Geylang and cafes in Haji Lane, provide a sense of security for Muslim travelers.

Aisyah's journey begins at the iconic main gate, Jewel Changi Airport. Here, the Rain Vortex is not just a visual display, but a symbol of a new chapter in Aisyah's life filled with hope and anxiety. The atmosphere becomes more magical as the camera focuses on the Shiseido Forest Valley. The greenery amid modern buildings becomes Aisyah's safe haven upon setting foot in a foreign land.

As the story unfolds, viewers witness Aisyah's ambition at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The campus corridors and library depict Aisyah's struggle as a scholarship student at one of Asia's universities. Amid academic pressure, Aisyah's relationship with Liam begins to evolve.

One of the most memorable moments occurs at the S.E.A. Aquarium, Resorts World Sentosa. Heartfelt dialogues against the backdrop of a giant glass panel and blue underwater light create a poignant atmosphere.

Interestingly, the film also incorporates Singapore's serene side through Swan Lake at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a place of refuge for Aisyah amid the city's pace.
