TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost airline AirAsia announced that several of its flights were disrupted following the Mount Lewotobi eruption in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The eruption spread volcanic clouds that pose a significant threat to aircraft operations.

"Extensive volcanic ash clouds...can pose a significant threat to safe operations for aircraft in the vicinity of volcanic clouds," reads the written statement by the airline quoted by Tempo on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

In the statement, several flights operated by AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK), AirAsia Indonesia (QZ), and AirAsia X Malaysia (D7) to and from Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo were canceled or rescheduled since June 18, 2025.

AirAsia is committed to providing the best assistance to all affected passengers by informing them through email and SMS about the status of their flights and various travel recovery options available.

"The airline is working hard to ensure that guests can resume their journeys safely on the next available flight."

The weather remains dynamic after the eruption, thus AirAsia passengers with travel plans to or from affected destinations are advised to always monitor the latest flight status through the AirAsia MOVE application or via email to receive the latest notifications regarding schedule changes and other updates.

"In the meantime, AirAsia continues to monitor Mount Lewotobi volcanic activity and will update its travel advisory with the resumption of normal operations," wrote AirAsia.
