TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) said Commuter Line services between Bekasi Timur and Cikarang will resume on Wednesday, April 28, 2026, after being disrupted by a recent train collision.

The state railway operator added that operations will be restored gradually, with service frequency returning to normal levels.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the reopening would begin with the Cikarang Line operating as before.

“We will start reopening our KRL (Commuter Line) service, the Cikarang Line, which will operate with the same frequency as before,” Bobby said during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station on Wednesday. He added that long-distance train operations from the eastern corridor had already been normalized ahead of the commuter service resumption.

According to Bobby, the track has been declared safe following inspections by the National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT).

“The downstream line was reopened at 01.30 AM on Tuesday, so the line could be used by long-distance trains from the east direction,” he said.

However, trains passing through the affected section are still subject to a temporary speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour as a precaution.

Earlier, KAI suspended several long-distance train services departing Jakarta for destinations across Java to accelerate evacuation and recovery efforts at the crash site. KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the move was necessary to ensure optimal handling of the incident.

“I mentioned earlier that the trains from Jakarta, both from Pasar Senen and Gambir, will be stopped for their operations to Java tonight, so this will expedite the evacuation process,” Anne said.
