TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that sharia banking financing reached Rp720 trillion as of June 2026, expanding 11.43 percent year-on-year (yoy). Meanwhile, third-party funds (TPF) held by islamic banks rose 13.13 percent year-on-year to Rp816 trillion. Across the business sector during the same period, the halal supply chain grew by 5.5 percent, while outstanding corporate sukuk touched roughly Rp95 trillion.

Bank Indonesia Acting Governor Destry Damayanti stated that these positive trends have created wider opportunities for Islamic financing. "[This will help] support productive investment and real-sector expansion," she noted in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday, August 13, 2026, as quoted by news agency Antara.

Speaking at the Strategic Forum on Sharia Financing for Corporate Expansion, Destry emphasized that strengthening connectivity between the halal industry with the Islamic finance sector remains key to broadening corporate credit access, particularly in fostering competitive, innovative, and sustainable business growth.

Such effort, she added, also strengthens the role of Islamic economic sectors in driving national growth. During the forum, the central bank organized a business matching session pairing 20 Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) and Islamic Business Units (UUS) with 51 corporations to explore financing solutions tailored to their business needs.

"Sharia financing needs to be a strategic, competitive alternative for corporate investment and expansion. Therefore, it is necessary to build a bankable, measurable, and sustainable financing pipeline," Destry said.

She also underscored the need to enhance institutional capacity, innovate financial instruments, and bolster governance, risk management, and oversight to reinforce corporate financing.

Titi Khoiriah, Head of the Sharia Economic Agency at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), highlighted the urgency of long-term sharia financing tailored with suitable schemes and tenors to drive corporate growth.

Meanwhile, Bob Tyasika Ananta, Head of Business Relations at the Indonesian Sharia Banks Association (Asbisindo) and Deputy President Director of Bank Syariah Indonesia, stressed the necessity of an ecosystem-centric strategy linking corporations directly with their supply chains. "This approach allows Islamic banks to extend working capital financing while simultaneously building long-term partnerships with the business community," Bob said.

Under the Sharia Financing Month and Indonesian Intermediation Acceleration initiatives, Bank Indonesia and its industry partners continue to deepen synergies to widen financial access and accelerate sharia funding across the real economy.
