Profile of Indonesian UNIFIL Peacekeeper Killed in Lebanon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – One Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldier was killed after a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon was reportedly hit by Israeli artillery, according to Lebanese media reports.

The fallen soldier was Private First Class (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon, a member of the 113th Infantry Battalion/Jaya Sakti (Yonif 113/JS).

Farizal was killed while serving on a UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The information was confirmed by Colonel Teuku Mustafa Kamal, head of information for the Iskandar Muda Military Command.

“It is true that a TNI member from Yonif 113 has passed away,” Teuku Mustafa said when asked for confirmation on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Farizal was assigned to the Mechanized Infantry Battalion Task Force of the Garuda XXIII-S Contingent under the UNIFIL mission.

He came from Yonif 113/Jaya Sakti, a Raider Special Infantry unit under the 25th Infantry Brigade of the Iskandar Muda Military Command, headquartered in Bireuen, Aceh.

Born in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region, on January 3, 1998, Farizal served in his unit as a provost officer. At 28, he was deployed as part of Indonesia’s peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon.

The incident occurred in the UNP 7-1 Indobatt area in Achid Alqusayr village, southern Lebanon, at 08:44 PM local time, or 01:40 AM Western Indonesia Time (WIB). It took place amid escalating hostilities marked by artillery exchanges in the area.

In addition to Farizal, another soldier, Private First Class Rico Pramudia, sustained serious injuries and was evacuated by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut.

Two other TNI soldiers, Private First Class Bayu Prakoso and Private First Class Arif Kurniawan, suffered minor injuries and are receiving treatment at a UNIFIL Level I hospital.

Farizal’s body is currently lying in state at UNIFIL’s East Sector Headquarters near Marjayoun in southern Lebanon and is being prepared for repatriation to Indonesia with assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut.

Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, head of information at TNI Headquarters, said the incident occurred amid artillery exchanges in the area. He added that it has not yet been confirmed which party was directly responsible for the death of the Indonesian soldier and the injuries to three others.

“The investigation is still being conducted by UNIFIL,” he said.
