Summarecon Opens Opportunities to be Involved in the 3 Million Houses Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. Adrianto Pitojo Adi said that the company has communicated with the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR Ministry) to get involved in the expansion of the 3 million houses program. However, he said that Summarecon is still waiting for the scheme from the ministry.

Adrianto said that Summarecon's involvement is not for the subsidized housing program. "The company will contribute if the provided scheme is suitable and compatible with the company," said Adrianto in the information disclosure at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, quoted on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Maruarar Sirait said that finding investors for the 3 million houses program per year is not an easy task. So far, there have been interested potential investors but none have realized their investments.

Maruarar Sirait claimed to have shared tasks with Deputy Minister of PUPR Fahri Hamzah. "I conveyed to the Vice Minister to focus on (seeking) foreign investments with a target of 1 million," he said during a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Monday, May 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, he will be responsible for realizing the target of 2 million houses. "It is indeed a heavy task for the Vice Minister. We have divided the tasks so that there is someone focused on it, but I am also trying to help," he said.

Maruarar Sirait stated that Fahri has made nine official trips abroad to seek investors willing to invest. Meanwhile, he has only made one trip, to Qatar, when he participated in an official trip with President Prabowo Subianto some time ago. "It is indeed not easy, but we must not be defeated by the situation," said the politician from the Gerindra Party.

Most recently, the government reportedly plans to reduce the size of land and subsidized housing buildings. However, Deputy Minister of PUPR Fahri Hamzah stated that the plan to reduce the size has not yet become a final decision.

"Actually, it has not been decided because the truth is, the size is actually being enlarged," said Fahri Hamzah after the launch of the Sumitro Institute in Cibubur, West Java, Sunday, June 1, 2025.

He said the consideration for expanding subsidized housing buildings is to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "In essence, the size must be adjusted to the United Nations' standards for decent housing," he said.
