Air India Crash Follows String of Aviation Tragedies: A Grim Overview

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, two small planes collided over Arizona Airport, resulting in two fatalities. According to authorities as reported by CNN, the Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK II aircraft collided at 8:28 a.m. near Marana Regional Airport, northwest of Tucson.

The Cessna managed to land safely, while the Lancair crashed to the ground near another runway. A fierce fire erupted after the collision.

The Marana Police Department confirmed two deaths, and Airport Chief Galen Beem extended condolences on behalf of the City of Marana and the Marana Regional Airport to all affected families.

Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crashes in Kazakhstan

An Azerbaijan Airlines flight en route from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The plane was carrying 62 passengers and five crew members. Kazakh authorities reported that 29 passengers survived, while 38 others died.

The aircraft crashed approximately 3 km from Aktau, Kazakhstan, on the opposite side of the Caspian Sea. The Russian Flight Inspection Authority stated that the plane had altered its original route due to thick fog and local warnings about an unmanned Ukrainian aircraft.

Jeju Air Accident Claims 179 Lives in South Korea

The devastating crash of a Jeju Air plane resulted in 179 fatalities on December 29, 2024. The aircraft overran the runway upon landing and skidded off its end, subsequently exploding after colliding with a barrier wall at Muan International Airport, South Korea.

The Jeju Air flight, carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, was flying from Bangkok, Thailand, to Muan, South Korea. Officials had previously warned the plane about a potential bird strike from the control tower. Minutes later, the pilot issued a "mayday" warning and attempted another landing. Shortly afterward, the plane struck the concrete barrier wall and erupted in flames.

Air Canada Skids Off Runway in Halifax

An Air Canada plane had to make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Canada, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, after its landing gear was damaged.

According to Antara, Air Canada Flight 2259, departing from St. John's International Airport, encountered landing problems at 9:30 a.m. AST (01:30 GMT Sunday). This caused the plane to skid off the runway, and one of its engines caught fire.
