TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple is reportedly developing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot similar to ChatGPT. A review by Tech Crunch on Monday, August 4, 2025, citing technology journalist Mark Gurman's report.
The team is reportedly called 'Answers, Knowledge, and Information' and is tasked with developing an 'answer engine' to respond to questions, based on information gathered from various internet sources.
This technology can be developed as a standalone application or integrated into Apple services such as Siri, Safari, and other Apple products.
Apple is also known to be recruiting new members to strengthen the team. "Apple is advertising for jobs with this team, specifically looking for applicants who have experience with search algorithms and engine development," as stated by the Tech Crunch review.
While Apple has integrated ChatGPT into Siri, the AI-based updates for the voice assistant are said to be repeatedly delayed. On the other hand, Apple may need to adjust its search agreement with Google after the search engine company lost in an antitrust case.
While Apple is creating a chatbot, OpenAI is planning to take ChatGPT to a higher level by embedding it into a browser. The new browser will feature a ChatGPT user interface (UI) that can communicate directly with users and will be supported by Chromium, Google's open-source engine.
