TEMPO.CO, Pangkalpinang - A car was found completely destroyed by fire near Hotel Soll Marina in Beluluk Village, Pangkalan Baru District, Central Bangka Regency, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Tigor, a resident living near the scene, said the incident was made known after the sound of three explosions jolted people awake. "The sound was so loud that it woke the surrounding residents. I then, along with some neighbors, checked the source of the sound. It turned out there was a car on fire near Hotel Soll Marina," said Tigor.
According to Tigor, the residents reported the incident to the hotel security officers as they noticed the car was still ablaze near the hotel. "The officer immediately reported the incident to the Pangkalan Baru Police, who then contacted the firefighters to extinguish the fire," he said.
Pangkalpinang Resort Police Chief Commissioner Gatot Yulianto confirmed the incident. Officers found skeletal remains of a human inside the burnt-out car, after the fire was successfully put out. "Nearly an hour after the burning car was extinguished, during the inspection, human remains in the form of bones were found," he said.
Gatot said a crime scene investigation was underway to identify the cause of the fire, the identity of the car, and the body inside the car.
"The members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pangkalpinang Police Headquarters are carrying out the identification process on-site. We hope to reveal more information soon, and to identify the body quickly," he said.
Data obtained by Tempo from the Bangka Belitung vehicle information system show the license plate BN 1967 RC of the burnt car is registered under the name Parlina Agustin, a resident of Dusun VI, Selindung Village, Mentok District, West Bangka Regency.
