Swedish Media Reports IKEA, Nestle, Carrefour Advertise on Israeli Ultranationalist TV

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Swedish newspaper ETC, as reported by Al Jazeera on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, has published a list of international companies that have bought advertising space on Channel14, an ultra-nationalist television channel in Israel, between February 27, 2024, and May 21, 2025.

Out of the 418 companies that aired advertisements on the channel last year, 50 were international or multinational. This includes the French retail giant Carrefour, the Swiss multinational food and beverage processing conglomerate Nestle, and the multinational conglomerate IKEA, the newspaper said.

The channel often broadcasts debate programs, in which Israeli panelists advocate for the total elimination of Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip.

ETC also reported that three Israeli civil society organizations had presented a lot of evidence in a petition to the Israeli Supreme Court, accusing the television channel of inciting genocide against the Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip.

According to ETC, Channel14 also receives financial benefits from the Israeli government, including tax exemptions and significant administrative fees. The remaining funds come in the form of advertising revenue.

Nestle, Carrefour, and IKEA are some companies frequently mentioned in the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) boycott list.

BDS is a movement aimed at exerting pressure on Israel through boycotting its products and services, divesting from companies that support Israel, and imposing sanctions on the country.

According to the BDS Movement, Carrefour is a primary target because it has stores in Israeli illegal settlements and is accused of supporting the right-wing government of Israel. Nestle is also a target because it operates a factory in Israel and is accused of supporting Israeli policies. IKEA also makes the list for having supported the Israeli government.
