The Chairprtson of the Indonesian Mountain Guides Association, Rahman Mukhlis, emphasized that Mount Rinjani is not suitable for beginner climbers.

His statement came in response to growing discussions on social media following the recent incident involving Juliana de Souza Pereira Marins, a 27-year-old Brazilian citizen, on the volcano located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Rahman explained that Mount Rinjani, which rises to 3,726 meters above sea level, has a moderate to high level of difficulty. He said that anyone wishing to climb Indonesia's second-highest volcano should have prior experience hiking other mountains, particularly those over 2,500 meters.

"Especially mountains with an altitude of 2,500 meters," he said on Friday, June 27, 2025.

2. Autopsy: Juliana Marins Suffered Blunt Force Trauma, Died Shortly After Rinjani Fall

A forensic doctor from Bali Mandara Hospital (RSBM) has disclosed the autopsy findings of Juliana Marins, a 27-year-old Brazilian national who died after falling while hiking Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara last Saturday.

Forensic specialist Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit from Bali Mandara Hospital said that an examination of Juliana’s body revealed multiple injuries across her body, with prominent scraping abrasions suggesting she had hit blunt objects during her fall at Cemara Nunggal, a route leading to the summit of Mount Rinjani.

"The cause of death was due to blunt force trauma causing damage," Dr. Alit said in Denpasar on Friday, June 27, 2025.
