TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Amadeus Music Foundation Indonesia held its first public performance of the year, featuring the works of prodigy composers Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Bizet. The concert, titled "The Prodigies," took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Jakarta Simfonia Hall in Central Jakarta.
The evening featured Henrik Hochschild, associate concertmaster of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and professor of violin at the "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" University of Music and Theatre (HMT) in Germany. The performance also showcased Ioana Cristina Goicea, a violin professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts (MDW) in Vienna.
The Amadeus Symphony Orchestra (ASO) performed well-known pieces such as Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and introduced compositions that had never been played before in Indonesia, including works by Mozart and Bizet.
Hochschild explained that prodigies are a special breed. According to him, child prodigies who successfully transition into adult musicians are a rare phenomenon. "Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Bizet are successful examples, and they were fortunate to have a strong support system, including parents, teachers, and schools," Hochschild noted.
Ioana Cristina Goicea expressed her gratitude for the enthusiastic Indonesian audience. "Thank you very much. I am delighted to perform here," she said.
The concert commenced with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 9 in C Major, K. 73, followed by Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64, performed by Ioana Cristina Goicea. The program concluded with Georges Bizet's Symphony in C Major.
At the end of the first half, Goicea presented an encore solo performance without orchestral accompaniment, while the entire orchestra presented the encore "Let it Be Dynamite, Mr. Strauss!" at the conclusion of the second half.
