TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After meeting with Joko Widodo for 30 minutes, Relly Reagen, Chair of the Central Executive Board of Brigade Rakyat Nusantara, used the opportunity to report on preparations for the former president’s political tour of Lampung. During the discussion, held on the terrace of Jokowi’s home in Solo, Central Java, on Monday, June 15, 2026, Relly said arrangements for the visit were nearly complete.
Relly presented the political tour agenda prepared by Jokowi’s volunteers. According to him, Jokowi promised to fulfill all invitations from his supporter groups in Lampung. Jokowi also conveyed a message regarding the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), now led by his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. “We were asked to help encourage the PSI to continue improving itself,” Relly said in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 16.
The meeting marked Relly’s third encounter with Jokowi since last April. During the previous two meetings, Relly said, Jokowi spent hours discussing strategies for consolidating and strengthening PSI’s organizational structure in the regions. It was from those conversations that Relly proposed a visit to Kota Gajah (Elephant City) in Central Lampung Regency. The elephant is synonymous with PSI’s new party symbol.
According to Relly, Jokowi immediately approved the idea because the area’s identity matched the party’s emblem. Lampung was also chosen as the starting point of the political tour because it served as one of Jokowi’s strongholds throughout his two presidential terms. He won more than 2 million votes there in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections and consistently defeated Prabowo Subianto, his political rival at the time. “This region was one of Pak Jokowi’s political battlegrounds,” Relly said.
