TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Civil service leaders from ASEAN member countries gathered in Cambodia on Wednesday, August 5, to attend the 23rd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) and the eighth ACCSM+3 meeting.
The summit focuses on accelerating innovation and improving public service delivery across the Southeast Asian region. The meeting convened under the theme "Innovation for Better Service Delivery."
Inaugurating the event, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the summit aimed to strengthen regional cooperation, foster a culture of excellence, and build an agile, resilient, and future-ready public sector.
"Recognizing ASEAN's diverse development levels, our goal is to narrow the gap and ensure each country adopts new technologies, particularly AI, at a sustainable pace," Hun Manet said, as quoted from Xinhua.
He noted that true governance innovation rests on strengthening institutions and human resources, not just digital tools.
The Prime Minister also thanked ASEAN's three key dialogue partners, namely China, Japan, and South Korea, for their strong commitment to enhancing regional cooperation in innovation and digital transformation of public services.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service of Cambodia, Hun Many, said the ACCSM has been a vital regional platform for over 40 years, promoting responsive and people-centered civil service management through knowledge exchange and capacity building.
"Together, we have strengthened regional solidarity, supported efforts to narrow development gaps among member states, and contributed to building a more resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centered ASEAN," he said.
