TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and Australia officially launched Katalis 2.0, a new program under the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) to strengthen two-way trade and investment and help unlock the economic potential of both countries.
The initiative was jointly launched by Australia's Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Matt Thistlethwaite and Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri in Jakarta on Monday.
"Indonesia is one of Australia's closest economic partners. Together, we are creating more opportunities for businesses, strengthening economic resilience, and realizing shared prosperity for both countries," said Assistant Minister Thistlethwaite in a statement from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.
Katalis 2.0 is funded by the Australian government and implemented in partnership with the Indonesian government to support the IA-CEPA through practical collaboration between government, industry players and various economic institutions.
"Indonesia is committed to expanding trade and investment opportunities that strengthen the competitiveness of national industries and create greater opportunities for Indonesian businesses in the international market. Our partnership with Australia continues to support these national priorities," said Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri.
Building on the success of the first phase of Katalis (2021–2025), the program will expand trade and investment opportunities, strengthen key institutions, and encourage broader participation in economic growth, including for women and underrepresented groups.
"Strong international partnerships play a crucial role in supporting Indonesia's long-term development agenda. Collaborations that strengthen institutions, foster innovation, and mobilize investment will contribute to more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient economic growth," said Eka Chandra Buana, Deputy for Macroeconomic Development at the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).
