TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali recorded the highest growth among other regions alongside Nusa Tenggara in the second quarter of 2026, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), at 6.10 percent year-on-year (yoy) each.
Following this were Java at 5.65 percent (yoy), and Sulawesi, at 5.53 percent (yoy).
Nationwide, Indonesia recorded economic growth at 5.29 percent (yoy).
"Economic growth in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Java, and Sulawesi exceeded national growth," said M. Edy Mahmud, Deputy Head for Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis at BPS, in a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Java remains the largest contributor to GDP with 56.47 percent, followed by Sumatra at 22.50 percent.
Meanwhile, in terms of sources of growth, the main drivers of economic growth in Sumatra are trade, the manufacturing industry, and agriculture. The province contributing the largest share of economic growth in the region is North Sumatra, with 1.17 percent.
On the island of Java, the main sources of growth came from the manufacturing, trade, and construction industries. The province with the largest contribution to economic growth was Jakarta, with 1.55 percent.
The primary sources of growth in the islands of Bali and Nusa Tenggara came from mining, trade, and government administration. Bali was the province with the largest contribution to economic growth in the region, at 2.77 percent.
In Kalimantan, growth was attributed to the manufacturing, trade, and mining industries. The province with the largest contribution to economic growth was East Kalimantan, with 1.76 percent.
In Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, manufacturing, trade, and construction industries contributed to the growth. The provinces with the largest contribution to economic growth were South Sulawesi, with 2.47 percent and North Maluku, with 2.98 percent.
For the record, constant gross domestic product (GDP) increased from Rp3,396.6 trillion in the second quarter of 2025 to Rp3,576.2 trillion in the second quarter of 2026, resulting in economic growth of 5.29 percent (yoy).
Furthermore, gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) contributed 2.06 percent to economic growth, with growth of 6.87 percent (yoy) and a contribution to GDP of 29.36 percent.
Exports grew 4.13 percent (yoy), contributing 23.13 percent to GDP, while imports increased by 8.82 percent (yoy).
In terms of the business sector, the manufacturing industry was the largest source of economic growth, contributing 0.90 percent. This sector grew 4.52 percent (yoy) and had a share of 18.50 percent of GDP.
