Free Palestine Network Organizes Nationwide Rallies in Eight Indonesian Cities

5 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Free Palestine Network (FPN) organized simultaneous demonstrations in eight cities across Indonesia on Friday, June 20, 2025, to urge the United States and its allies to halt the supply of weapons to Israel and end the genocide in Palestine.

In a statement released by FPN, the organization mentioned that Israel's arrogance is strengthening due to the international community's silence regarding the conflict that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023. According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health as of June 19, 2025, a total of 55,701 people have been killed and 130,101 others injured, with the majority of the victims being women and children.

FPN emphasizes that the actual figures are likely higher, considering the number of victims trapped under rubble or missing. The organization cited the scientific journal The Lancet, which estimates that the number of casualties could be three times higher due to indirect deaths resulting from the lack of healthcare.

"In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths," FPN quoted from the journal.

The demonstrations in front of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta were also carried out simultaneously in Medan, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Bandung, Kendari, Majene, and Makassar. FPN stated that they will continue to stage a series of demonstrations until the genocide is halted and Palestine gains independence.

The organization views Israel's brutality as a result of the United States' support, supplying 80 percent of Israel's weapons. FPN also criticized the United Nations for its inaction, noting that the United States has vetoed every ceasefire resolution.

Aside from Gaza, FPN noted that Israel's terror has also extended to the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. Despite the tension between Israel and Iran, Israel's attacks continue to claim dozens to hundreds of victims daily, including those killed while waiting for food.

FPN urged all civilian elements in Indonesia to come together and unite in the struggle against the genocide.

The organization urged the Indonesian government to take the lead in rallying international anti-imperialism, following in the footsteps of the founding fathers in the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference.

In the declaration, FPN stated that Palestine's independence is our historical responsibility, a responsibility to world civilization.
