Indonesia Revokes Five Company Licenses Over Kalimantan Fires

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni has once again announced the revocation of business licenses for five companies as part of law enforcement efforts regarding forest and land fires in Kalimantan.

"This is part of President Prabowo Subianto's directive for indiscriminate law enforcement—action that is not merely directed at small players but is equally rigorous toward major entities," Minister Raja Antoni stated in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The five companies whose licenses were revoked are: PT Wana Lestari Jaya (operating in Sanggau and Sekadau, West Kalimantan, with a concession area of approximately 29,140 hectares); PT Prima Multi Buana (Banjar, South Kalimantan; 11,882 hectares); and PT Pancaran Wana Nusa (Lamandau, Central Kalimantan; 3,812 hectares).

Also included are PT Grace Putri Perdana (Lamandau, Sukamara, and Ketapang; 28,990 hectares) and PT Babugus Wahana Lestari (Kapuas, Central Kalimantan; 18,640 hectares).

Minister Raja Antoni noted that the combined concession area of these five companies totals 92,464 hectares.

He added that the burnt areas for each company were recorded as follows: 47.84 hectares for PT Wana Lestari Jaya; 18.20 hectares for PT Prima Multi Buana; 497 hectares for PT Pancaran Wana Nusa; 374.99 hectares for PT Grace Putri Perdana; and 231.10 hectares for PT Babugus Wahana Lestari. The total burnt area amounts to 1,169.13 hectares.

According to Minister Raja Antoni, the license revocations stem from violations committed by the companies.

He emphasized that concession holders—or holders of the Business License for Forest Utilization (PBPH)—are obligated to safeguard their areas and fulfill the duties attached to their granted licenses. “However, because they disregarded and were indifferent to the matter, I have today revoked those five [permits],” he said.

Minister of Forestry Raja Antoni hopes this law enforcement measure will serve as a deterrent to other companies under the Ministry of Forestry, discouraging them from engaging in burning activities or allowing forest and land fires to occur unchecked.

“Therefore, I hope once again that this will act as a deterrent for all other companies under the Ministry of Forestry, preventing them from engaging in burning or allowing such fires to persist,” he stated.
