TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Military Prosecutor’s Office 07-II Jakarta, Colonel (Chk) Andri Wijaya, said the formal and material review of the case file in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has been completed.

He said the case file is now being prepared for submission of a legal opinion and recommendations to the Case Submission Officer, which will form the basis for issuing a case transfer decision (Skeppera).

“We are applying multiple articles in this case,” Andri said via WhatsApp message on Monday (April 13, 2026).

According to him, the charges include Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20(c), which carries a maximum sentence of three years for both principal perpetrators and accomplices.

Prosecutors are also applying Article 468 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20(c), as well as Article 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 20(c). Article 468 concerns assault causing serious injury, with a maximum penalty of eight years, while Article 467 covers premeditated assault, carrying up to four years, or seven years if it results in serious injury.

Meanwhile, the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), representing the victim, rejected the classification of the case solely as aggravated assault. TAUD member Gema Gita Persada said the charges do not fully reflect the nature of the incident.

Based on consultations with experts, the team suspects possible elements of attempted premeditated murder.

TAUD has also included allegations of terrorism in a Type B report submitted to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, citing a statement by President Prabowo Subianto who previously referred to the incident as an act of terrorism.

The attack took place on March 12, 2026, on Salemba I–Talang Street in Central Jakarta, when Andrie Yunus was splashed with a corrosive chemical while passing through the area. Medical records show the KontraS deputy coordinator suffered burns covering more than 20 percent of his body.

The Indonesian Military Police identified four suspects in the case: NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, all members of the air and naval forces with ranks including captain, first lieutenant, and sergeant.
