TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that Indonesia is currently not in good condition as the nation is struggling to compete across various sectors compared to other countries.
"Constantly evolving technology is now a major challenge worldwide, even identified in the Global Risk Report, and it is a reality we must confront," Sigit said during an address at the Shangri-La Hotel in Central Jakarta on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Additionally, Sigit also addressed Indonesia's capacity to navigate the increasingly volatile global landscape. He emphasized that the prevailing situation requires Indonesia's ability to withstand international competition.
"Our nation's situation and the global dynamic are currently far from stable, compelling every country to strategize intensely for survival amid these conditions," he remarked.
Sigit further mentioned the impact of international trade wars on Indonesia's food security. The four-star general underscored that these influences mandate Indonesia's active engagement in its foreign policy. "This ensures Indonesia's position remains secure amid the ongoing global crisis," Sigit affirmed.
According to him, these challenges also compel Indonesia to maintain economic stability. He asserted that this is crucial for the nation to cultivate economic resilience and food security, mitigating the effects of global trade conflicts. "The ongoing trade wars invariably cause escalation that impacts both food and economic sectors," he explained.
Earlier, Sigit outlined the police force's role in President Prabowo Subianto's food security initiative. He detailed how his institution has implemented nutritious food garden programs and optimized the utilization of productive land.
"Our efforts include optimizing unmanaged land, overseeing the distribution of government assistance, and ensuring harvest targets are met," Sigit articulated during a speech at the 79th Bhayangkara Anniversary in Monas, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

He also noted that the police force recruited 593 non-commissioned officers to bolster the food security program. Sigit specified that these personnel comprise Bhayangkara Civil Society Security and Order (Bhabinkamtibmas) and Food Security Driving Non-Commissioned Officers. "They serve as the frontline implementers in the field," he stated.
Furthermore, Sigit mentioned the police's collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to promote corn cultivation nationwide. He claimed that the police have encouraged approximately 135,000 farming groups to plant corn across 429,000 hectares of land. "We are also developing innovations in superior seeds, fertilizers, and Polri task force applications that support food resilience," Sigit concluded.
