TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japanese video game company Nintendo has officially raised the prices of several of its console products, including the first-generation Switch, the Switch OLED, and the Switch Lite. The price increase for these game consoles was announced on the company's official website on August 2, 2025, citing the need to adjust to global market conditions.
Citing The Verge, the original Nintendo Switch, previously sold for US$299.99, is now priced at US$339.99. Meanwhile, the price of the Switch OLED has increased from US$349.99 to US$399.99. The Switch Lite has also risen from US$199.99 to US$229.99.
In addition to the consoles, the prices of accessories such as Alarmo and Joy-Con Switch 1 will also increase starting on August 3, 2025. Alarmo is now priced at US$109.99, while the Joy-Con Switch 1 has risen to US$89.99.
This policy was announced a day after United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order regarding reciprocal tariffs for various countries. Under the new policy, the U.S. government has imposed a 20 percent import duty on goods from the current primary production base for Nintendo's consoles.
Despite the price hikes, Nintendo has guaranteed that the prices of Switch 2 consoles and games, in both physical and digital forms, will remain unchanged. Currently, the Switch OLED is only slightly cheaper than the Switch 2, which is sold for US$449.99.
Nevertheless, the Switch 2 remains the best-selling product for Nintendo with sales of over 6 million units since its launch. However, product supplies were disrupted due to high demand.
